I am wondering if i should get an analog 8 channel interface, like a Tascam US 16X08, or a mixer like a Behringer Xenyx 2222 USB, or something similar. I am thinking: whatever I buy, maybe I could use also live, if we do gigs with the guitarist board, he does't have enough channel for the whole band so I could send him a mix of my kit, but that would be on rare occasions.
I need phantom power for the 2 overheads. I have an AKG Drumset Session pack plus an SM57 for the snare. My biggest kit is a 6 piece plus 2 overheads, so I would need 8 xlr channels minimum. I am using a recent MacBook Pro with up to date OS X.
Now, I have ZERO exprience with recording, so please explaing to me like I am 5. This is not for professional recording, just for fun. I have some drums, and microphones (that I use for gigs), and I am a bit bored at the moment, so I thought: why not get my hands at recording my drums, make drum covers etc.
